Memorials

The anti-Covid-19 measures limited funeral attendance. When times are more sutiable we can commemorate our deceased parishioners together. In the meantime we can remember them and their families and friends in our prayers, and commemorate them here.

Maureen Marea O’Connor

Maureen O'Connor (1943-2020)Our sister Maureen, a native of Randwick, and her husband Roger Goodwill came to live in this parish in 2003. She departed this life on Monday, 16 March, in the Cairns Hospital.

Her funeral took place in a private ceremony in Yungaburra on Wednesday 25 March; the service booklet, including Alban’s homily.

Eternal rest, grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace. Amen.

Jenny Nunan

Jenny NunanOur sister Jenny departed this life on Wednesday 18 March at home. She was often found attending to the decorative banners in the church, the current one for Lent reminding us of the journey to the Cross and Resurrection.

Her funeral was held in a private ceremony in Atherton on Monday 23 March.

Eternal rest, grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace. Amen.

May flights of angels lead you on your way,
to paradise, and heaven’s eternal day.
May martyrs greet you after death’s dark night,
and bid you enter into Sion’s light.
May choirs of angels sing you to your rest,
with once poor Lazarus now for ever blest.
