Paschal Triduum (Holy Thursday — Easter Sunday)

Easter Sunday, the feast of the Lord’s Resurrection, is observed on the Sunday after the first Full Moon after the Equinox in March; the earliest possible date is 22 March, and the latest is 25 April. The main parts of the Paschal Triduum (Three Day Commemoration) are on Holy Thursday evening with Mass of the Lord’s Supper, on Good Friday afternoon with the commemoration of the Passion of the Lord, and on Holy Saturday night with the Paschal Vigil (comprising the service of light, and a service of readings and prayers) and Mass. On Easter Sunday morning Mass is celebrated in each town.

Please note, the day after Good Friday is Holy Saturday; Easter Saturday is the one after Easter Sunday.

Mass times on Easter Sunday morning may differ to normal Sundays; please see the current liturgy calendar.

Easter weddings

Celebration of weddings are prohibited on Good Friday and Holy Saturday. They may take place on Easter Sunday but the local priests and deacons may not be available due to their liturgical obligations across the whole region. It is best not to plan for a wedding on Easter Sunday unless a priest or deacon has been found ot be available.
